Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Galaxy S24 Ultra
Short answer: the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the better phone, with the faster Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, a lighter and thinner body and a slightly bigger 6.9 inch screen. But the S24 Ultra is still a top flagship with the same 200MP main camera, 5x zoom, 5000 mAh battery and seven years of updates. If the price gap is large, the S24 Ultra is the better value.

Design and build
The S25 Ultra finally gets rounded corners, which makes it more comfortable to hold. It weighs 218 g and is 8.2 mm thick, against 232 g and 8.6 mm for the S24 Ultra, so the newer phone feels noticeably lighter.
Both have a titanium frame, IP68 and a built-in S Pen. The S25 Ultra uses Gorilla Armor 2 on the front; the S24 Ultra uses the first Gorilla Armor. Both are anti-reflective.
Display
The S25 Ultra has a 6.9 inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, and the S24 Ultra a 6.8 inch one. Both run at 1–120Hz and reach up to 2600 nits peak. The S25 Ultra has thinner borders, so it gets a bigger screen in a body of almost the same size. Visually, quality is the same.
Performance and chipset
The S25 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nm) and the S24 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy (4 nm). Both have 12GB RAM in standard versions. The 8 Elite is clearly faster in CPU, GPU and on-device AI, and it is more efficient.
In real life, the S24 Ultra is still very fast for gaming and multitasking. The upgrade matters most to heavy gamers and people who want maximum speed for many years.
Cameras
Both have a 200MP main camera, 50MP 5x periscope telephoto, 10MP 3x telephoto and 12MP front camera. The difference is the ultra-wide: 50MP on the S25 Ultra versus 12MP on the S24 Ultra, giving sharper wide shots and better macro photos.
The S25 Ultra also adds 10-bit HDR video by default, Log video and AI audio eraser for removing wind or background noise. Both record 8K 30fps.
Battery and charging
Both have a 5000 mAh battery with 45W wired and 15W wireless charging. The S25 Ultra usually lasts a bit longer thanks to the more efficient chip. The S25 Ultra is Qi2 Ready, meaning it works with magnetic Qi2 accessories when used with a magnetic case. No charger in the box for either.

Software, AI and the S Pen

One downgrade: the S25 Ultra's S Pen dropped Bluetooth, so Air Actions (using the pen as a camera shutter remote or gesture wand) are gone. Writing and drawing work the same.

Who should buy which
