iPhone 14 Pro Max vs iPhone 15 Pro Max
Short answer: the iPhone 15 Pro Max adds a lighter titanium frame (221 g vs 240 g), the A17 Pro chip, USB-C with 10 Gbps transfers, a 5x tetraprism telephoto, the Action button and Apple Intelligence support. The 14 Pro Max has the same 6.7 inch Always-On screen, Dynamic Island and 48MP main camera, so it is the better value if you do not need those upgrades.

Design and build
The 14 Pro Max uses a polished stainless steel frame and weighs 240 g. The 15 Pro Max switches to a brushed titanium frame and weighs 221 g, with slightly rounded edges and thinner borders. Both have a textured matte glass back, Ceramic Shield front and IP68.
The 15 Pro Max replaces the mute switch with the Action button, which can open the camera, torch, a shortcut or silent mode. It is also a little smaller at 159.9 x 76.7 mm vs 160.7 x 77.6 mm.
Display
Both have a 6.7 inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED at 1290 x 2796 with ProMotion (1-120Hz), Always-On display, Dynamic Island and up to 2000 nits outdoors.
The screens look the same in daily use. The 15 Pro Max's thinner borders make it feel a bit more modern, but there is no real quality difference.
Performance and chipset
The 14 Pro Max uses the A16 Bionic (4 nm, 5-core GPU). The 15 Pro Max uses the A17 Pro (3 nm, 6-core GPU) with hardware ray tracing.
The A17 Pro is faster in heavy games and editing, and it can run console games such as Resident Evil Village. It can get warm under long heavy loads. For WhatsApp, social media and normal games, both feel equally quick.
Cameras
Both have a 48MP main and 12MP ultra-wide. The 14 Pro Max has a 12MP 3x telephoto; the 15 Pro Max has a 12MP 5x tetraprism telephoto, which reaches much further for concerts, cricket and wildlife. Both have a 12MP front camera.
The 15 Pro Max also records spatial video and can save ProRes directly to an external SSD over USB-C. Portrait photos can be refocused after taking them on the 15 Pro Max.
Battery and charging
The 14 Pro Max has a 4323 mAh battery and the 15 Pro Max has 4441 mAh. Real backup is similar, with a small edge for the newer phone. Both charge to about 50% in 30 minutes with a 20W adapter and support 15W MagSafe. The 15 Pro Max adds Qi2.

Software and updates
Both run current iOS in 2026. The 15 Pro Max launched a year later and should get about one more year of major updates. The key software difference is Apple Intelligence: the 15 Pro Max supports it, the 14 Pro Max does not. Feature availability depends on language and region settings.
