Short answer: buy the POCO F6 Pro if you want a sharper WQHD+ screen with up to 4000 nits, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 120W charging, an aluminium frame, Wi-Fi 7 and 8K video. Buy the POCO F6 if you want a lighter phone with the newer Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a Sony main camera, a 20MP selfie camera and better IP64 protection for less money. Design and build
The POCO F6 has a plastic frame, a glass back with Gorilla Glass Victus on the front, and weighs about 179 g. The POCO F6 Pro has an aluminium frame, a glass back, Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and weighs about 209 g.
The F6 is rated IP64 and the F6 Pro IP54, so the cheaper F6 actually handles rain and dust a little better. The F6 Pro feels more solid and premium thanks to its metal frame.
Display
The POCO F6 Pro has a 6.67 inch Flow AMOLED at 1440 x 3200 (WQHD+) with 120Hz and up to 4000 nits peak. The POCO F6 has a 6.67 inch Flow AMOLED at 1220 x 2712 (1.5K) with 120Hz and up to 2400 nits. Both are 12-bit panels with Dolby Vision and HDR10+.
The F6 Pro is sharper and much brighter, which helps outdoors in strong sun. The F6's 1.5K screen is still crisp and smooth for gaming and videos.
Performance and chipset
The POCO F6 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 (4 nm). The POCO F6 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm), the flagship chip from 2023. In practice they are close: the 8 Gen 2 is a little stronger in graphics, while the 8s Gen 3 is newer and efficient.
Both run PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Call of Duty and Genshin Impact very smoothly. For most gamers either chip is more than enough.
Cameras
The POCO F6 has a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 20MP selfie camera, with 4K 60fps video. The POCO F6 Pro has a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro, a 16MP selfie camera and up to 8K 24fps video.
The F6 Pro's main sensor is slightly better in low light, while the F6 has the better selfie camera. Neither has a telephoto lens.
Battery and charging
Both have a 5000 mAh battery. The POCO F6 charges at 90W wired and the POCO F6 Pro at 120W wired. Neither has wireless charging.
Both charge very quickly, so a short window of power during load shedding is enough to get through the day. The F6 Pro is a few minutes faster to full.
