How to Check if a Samsung Phone Is Original
To check if a Samsung phone is original, match the IMEI from *#06# with Settings and the box, confirm the model number (SM-...) in Settings > About phone, and open Samsung Members to run Phone diagnostics. A genuine Galaxy runs Samsung's own apps, gets updates and passes the hardware tests. A copy or heavily repaired phone usually fails at least one of these checks.

Samsung original check code list
These dialler codes work on many Galaxy phones. Some are switched off on certain models, regions or software versions, so a code that does nothing is not proof of a fake on its own: - *#06#: shows the IMEI numbers and serial number. Match them with Settings > About phone > Status and the box label - *#0*#: opens the hardware test menu on many Galaxy models, see below - *#1234#: shows the firmware versions (AP, CP and CSC). On a genuine phone these follow Samsung's format and start with the model code, for example S928B... for a Galaxy S24 Ultra - *#7353#: a quick test menu on some, mostly older, Samsung models
These codes are free and need no app or internet. No code can 'prove' originality on its own. Combine them with the other checks on this page.
What the *#0*# test menu checks
The *#0*# menu is very useful for a used Samsung. It lets you test: - Screen colours: red, green, blue and black screens show dead pixels, burn-in and tint - Touch: draw across the whole grid to find dead zones or ghost touch - Sensors: proximity, light, accelerometer and fingerprint - Speaker, receiver and vibration - Front and rear cameras
Press back to exit. If the menu does not open on your model, use Samsung Members diagnostics instead, which covers most of the same tests.
Samsung Members diagnostics and software checks
Every genuine Galaxy comes with the Samsung Members app (or it can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store and Play Store). Open it and go to Support > Phone diagnostics. You can test the battery status, screen, touch, sensors, cameras, buttons, Wi-Fi, mobile network and more.
Also check: - Settings > About phone: model name and model number match the box - Settings > About phone > Software information: One UI version and Android version are recent for that model - Settings > Software update: the phone can check for official updates - Galaxy Store, Samsung Health and Secure Folder open and work
Copy phones often fake the 'About phone' screen, but they cannot run Samsung's own apps and updates properly.
Samsung original check online by IMEI number
There is no single public Samsung page that says 'original' or 'fake' for an IMEI. What you can do online: - Send the IMEI to 8484 or check it on dirbs.pta.gov.pk. The reply shows the brand and model that the IMEI belongs to. If it says something other than the Samsung model in your hand, the phone or IMEI is not genuine - Use Samsung's support or warranty pages, or the Samsung Members app, to see warranty details where available. Our check mobile warranty guide (How to Check Mobile Warranty in Pakistan (Samsung, iPhone, Infinix and More)) explains this
Avoid paid 'IMEI checker' sites. A free 8484 check plus the on-phone checks tell you more.
How to check if a Samsung is refurbished or repaired
A refurbished or repaired Samsung can be genuine but still not 'new'. Look for: - A screen that looks different in colour or brightness, or a fingerprint sensor that works poorly, which can mean a non-original display - Gaps between frame and back glass, or uneven glue - Battery status in Samsung Members showing weak or bad - Box IMEI that does not match the phone - A warranty start date long before the claimed purchase
Samsung Knox security also leaves a trace. If the phone was rooted or had unofficial software, the Knox warranty bit changes from 0x0 to 0x1 permanently. You may notice this because Samsung Pay, Secure Folder or Samsung Health stop working. A trusted service centre can read the Knox status for you. Our refurbished phone guide (How to Check if a Phone Is Refurbished or Not (iPhone, Samsung, Android)) has more checks.
Mobile copy hai ya original kaise pata kare?
Original mobile ki pehchan har brand mein taqreeban ek jaisi hai: - *#06# dial karein aur IMEI box aur Settings se milayein - IMEI 8484 par bhejein. Jawab mein wahi brand aur model aana chahiye jo aap ke haath mein hai - Play Store aur brand ki apni app (Samsung Members, Xiaomi Services wagera) chala kar dekhein - Software update check karein - Geekbench ya CPU-Z jaisi app se processor dekhein. Copy phone mein processor ka naam aksar ghalat hota hai - Bohot sasti qeemat, kamzor camera aur halka build bhi copy ki nishani hai
iPhone ke liye hamari alag guide hai: how to check iPhone original (How to Check if an iPhone Is Original or Fake).
Box, model code and accessories
Read the box label: model (for example SM-S921B), colour, storage and IMEI. The letter at the end shows the region variant. 'B' units are usually the international models sold as Non Custom box pack in Pakistan. Our guide to Samsung Galaxy series (Samsung Galaxy Series Explained: Which One Should You Buy?) covers the model codes.
Box printing should be sharp, the seal neat, and the phone should show the same model code in Settings. Remember that boxes can be copied, so the box is a starting point, not proof.
