Read full overview
The OPPO A98 5G is the top model in OPPO's A series and a solid all-rounder. It pairs a large 6.72-inch Full HD+ screen running at 120Hz with the Snapdragon 695, a reliable 6 nm 5G chip. Everyday use is smooth, and games like PUBG run fine at medium settings. 8GB RAM and 256GB storage give plenty of room.
The camera setup is unusual. Alongside the 64MP main camera and 2MP depth sensor, there is a 2MP microscope lens that magnifies up to 40x, letting you capture fabric textures, leaves and other tiny details. It is a fun extra rather than a serious tool. The 32MP front camera is a real strength, giving sharp selfies and clear video calls.
The 5000mAh battery lasts more than a day, and 67W SUPERVOOC charging fills it in about 45 minutes. Dual speakers, a side fingerprint sensor, USB-C and a headphone jack are included. The body is fairly slim at 8.2 mm. The display is an LCD rather than AMOLED, so contrast is not as deep, but it is sharp and smooth.
Some listings wrongly show a Snapdragon 778G; the A98 5G actually uses the Snapdragon 695. It is part of the OPPO A series (OPPO A Series phones). The phone we sell is the PTA Patch Approved international box pack. This phone is PTA Patch Approved, so a local SIM works. See our 256GB mobiles (256GB Mobiles) page.
