The Redmi 12 stands out in the budget segment for its design. Instead of the usual plastic, it has a glass back with a clean, flat look, and the camera lenses sit individually on the back like more expensive phones. It also carries an IP53 rating against dust and splashes, which is reassuring during rain or in a dusty city.
The 6.79-inch IPS display is big and sharp with full HD+ resolution, and it switches up to 90Hz for smoother scrolling. It is excellent for watching dramas, cricket highlights and YouTube.
The camera setup is well chosen for the price: a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide for group photos and wide scenes, and a 2MP macro for close-ups. The 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. Inside, the MediaTek Helio G88 with up to 8GB RAM runs everyday apps and casual games smoothly, though it is not built for heavy gaming.
The 5000mAh battery lasts a full day, with 18W USB-C charging. A side fingerprint scanner, headphone jack and microSD slot are included, and the phone launched with Android 13 and MIUI 14.
Our Redmi 12 is a Non PTA, imported box pack. A local SIM works only for the permitted period unless you register the phone with PTA and pay the tax; Wi-Fi and every other feature work normally.
