iPhone 15 Pro Max vs iPhone 17 Pro Max
Short answer: the iPhone 17 Pro Max is two generations newer, with the A19 Pro chip, a bigger 6.9 inch screen up to 3000 nits, three 48MP rear cameras, an 18MP Center Stage selfie camera, a 4823 mAh battery with 40W charging and Camera Control. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is lighter, keeps a titanium frame and a true 5x telephoto, supports Apple Intelligence and costs much less as a used Non PTA phone.

Design and build
The 15 Pro Max has a titanium frame with a matte glass back and weighs 221 g. The 17 Pro Max switches to an aluminium unibody with a Ceramic Shield back, Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and a full-width camera plateau, and weighs 231 g. Both are IP68 and have the Action button; the 17 Pro Max adds Camera Control.
The 17 Pro Max is bigger (163.4 x 78 mm vs 159.9 x 76.7 mm) and thicker (8.75 mm vs 8.25 mm), partly to fit its larger battery and improved cooling.
Display
Both use an LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED with ProMotion (1-120Hz), Always-On display and Dynamic Island. The 15 Pro Max is 6.7 inches at 1290 x 2796 with up to 2000 nits outdoors. The 17 Pro Max is 6.9 inches at 1320 x 2868 with up to 3000 nits outdoors.
The 17 Pro Max screen is larger and much brighter in direct sun, which is useful during Pakistani summers.
Performance and chipset
The 15 Pro Max uses the A17 Pro (3 nm, 6-core GPU). The 17 Pro Max uses the A19 Pro (3 nm) with a 6-core GPU that includes Neural Accelerators for AI tasks.
The A19 Pro is faster, more efficient and holds performance better in long gaming sessions thanks to the new cooling design. The A17 Pro can get warm under heavy load but is still a flagship chip for daily use.
Cameras
The 15 Pro Max has a 48MP main, 12MP ultra-wide and 12MP 5x tetraprism telephoto, plus a 12MP front camera. The 17 Pro Max has a 48MP Fusion main, 48MP ultra-wide and 48MP 4x telephoto with 8x optical-quality zoom, plus an 18MP Center Stage front camera.
The 15 Pro Max has slightly more native optical reach (5x vs 4x), but the 17 Pro Max's 48MP sensor gives sharper results at 8x and beyond. The 17 Pro Max also shoots 4K 120fps Dolby Vision and ProRes RAW, and its Center Stage selfie camera takes wide group shots without rotating the phone.
Battery and charging
The 15 Pro Max has a 4441 mAh battery, charges to about 50% in 30 minutes and supports 15W MagSafe and Qi2. The 17 Pro Max has a 4823 mAh battery, 40W wired charging (about 50% in 20 minutes), 25W MagSafe and Qi2.2. Both use USB-C with USB 3 speeds.

Software and updates
Both support Apple Intelligence and run current iOS in 2026. The 17 Pro Max launched two years later with iOS 26, so it should get about two more years of major updates. Feature availability depends on language and region settings.
