Best Time to Buy a Mobile Phone in Pakistan: A Month-by-Month Guide
The best time to buy a mobile phone in Pakistan is usually just after a new model launches, because the previous model's price drops, and during big online sales such as 11.11 and Black Friday in November. Watch the June federal budget too, since tax changes from July can raise prices. If you need a phone now, though, buying the right model today beats waiting months for a small saving.

The launch cycle: when older models get cheaper
Every big brand launches on a fairly regular schedule: - Samsung Galaxy S series: usually January or February. Last year's Galaxy S phones get cheaper soon after. - Samsung Galaxy A mid-rangers: usually around March. - Samsung foldables: usually July or August. - Google Pixel: usually August. - Apple iPhone: every September. When the new iPhone arrives, the previous models drop in price and more used units come onto the market as people upgrade. - Xiaomi, Infinix, Tecno, Vivo and Oppo launch many times a year, so their prices change often.
The weeks after a launch are the best time to buy last year's flagship, which often gives 90% of the new phone's experience for much less.
June budget and PTA tax changes
Pakistan's federal budget is presented in June and the new fiscal year starts on 1 July. Changes to sales tax, customs duty and PTA tax on mobile phones are often announced in the budget and take effect from July. In some years this has pushed prices up, in others the changes were small.
If you plan to buy an imported phone and register it, follow budget news in June. Registering before a tax increase can save money, but always confirm the current PTA tax for your model on DIRBS, because FBR revises rates. See mobile tax in federal budget (Mobile Tax in the Federal Budget: How the New Budget Affects Phone Prices) and PTA tax on mobile phones (PTA Tax on Mobile Phones: How It Is Calculated and Paid).
11.11 sale in Pakistan and Black Friday
11.11 means the sale held on 11 November, which started in China as Singles' Day and is now the biggest online shopping day in the world. In Pakistan, online marketplaces such as Daraz run 11.11 sales with discounts, vouchers and bank card offers, and many electronics stores join in. Later in November comes Black Friday, which some Pakistani stores call White Friday, followed by 12.12 sales in December.
These sales are a good time to buy accessories and budget or mid-range phones. Flagship discounts are usually smaller. Compare the sale price with the normal price a week before, because some sellers raise the price first and then show a big 'discount'.
Ramadan sale in Pakistan and Eid offers
A Ramadan sale in Pakistan usually brings deals on phones, appliances and clothes, and brands run Eid campaigns with gifts or bundle offers. Demand also rises before Eid because many families buy phones as gifts, so popular models can sell out or prices can firm up in the last week before Eid. Buying early in Ramadan is usually better than buying on chaand raat. Also remember courier delays: deliveries slow down in the final days before Eid, so order at least a week ahead.
Best time to buy mobile online
The best time to buy a mobile online is when the seller is reliable, the price is clear and you get a checking period, more than any particular date. A few habits help: - Track the model's price on its page for a couple of weeks before buying. - Order early in the week; weekend and public-holiday orders often wait for couriers to restart. - Avoid ordering just before long holidays if you want the phone quickly. - Keep an eye on the dollar rate: imported phone prices in Pakistan follow it closely, and a sudden rupee fall raises prices within days.

Quick calendar for phone buyers
A simple year plan, based on the usual pattern (dates shift a little each year, and Ramadan moves about 11 days earlier every year): - January to February: new Galaxy S launch; good time for last year's Galaxy S. - March to April: new Galaxy A phones; older A models get cheaper. - Ramadan: brand offers and bundles; buy early, before the Eid rush. - June: federal budget; watch for tax changes from 1 July. - July to August: Samsung foldables and Google Pixel launch. - September: new iPhones; older iPhones drop and more used units appear. - November: 11.11 and Black Friday sales. - December: 12.12 sales and year-end clearance.
Use this as a guide, not a rule; a fair price on the right phone is a good deal in any month.
When not to wait
Waiting can save money, but it has costs too. If your current phone is broken, unsafe or no longer gets security updates, buying now is the right choice. A phone launched a few months ago will not suddenly drop by half, and prices can rise because of the dollar rate or a new tax. Buy the model that suits you, check its update years (see software update years by brand (How Many Years of Updates Does Each Phone Brand Give?)), and use it for years rather than chasing the perfect day.
