iPhone 12 vs iPhone 12 Mini
Short answer: the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini have the same A14 Bionic chip, the same dual 12MP cameras and the same features. The difference is size. The iPhone 12 has a 6.1 inch screen and a bigger 2815 mAh battery; the 12 mini has a 5.4 inch screen, weighs just 133 g and has a 2227 mAh battery. Most buyers in Pakistan should take the iPhone 12 for battery life; take the mini only if you really want a small phone.

Design and build
Both use the same flat-edge aluminium frame, glass back, Ceramic Shield front and IP68 rating. The iPhone 12 measures 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.4 mm and weighs 164 g. The 12 mini measures 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.4 mm and weighs only 133 g, making it one of the smallest full-featured iPhones ever made.
The mini is easy to use with one hand and fits any pocket. Colours are the same on both: Black, White, (PRODUCT)RED, Green, Blue and Purple.
Display
The iPhone 12 has a 6.1 inch Super Retina XDR OLED at 1170 x 2532. The 12 mini has a 5.4 inch Super Retina XDR OLED at 1080 x 2340. Both are 60Hz with up to 1200 nits HDR peak and a notch.
Picture quality is the same. The bigger screen is easier for YouTube, reading and typing, and the mini's keyboard can feel cramped if you have large hands.
Performance and chipset
Both use the Apple A14 Bionic (5 nm) with a 6-core CPU and 4-core GPU. Daily speed is identical: WhatsApp, Instagram, online classes and light gaming run smoothly on both.
The smaller body of the mini can get warm faster during long games or video calls, especially in summer heat, and may slow down a little sooner.
Cameras
The cameras are the same: 12MP main with OIS and 12MP ultra-wide on the back, 12MP on the front. Both record 4K 60fps video with Dolby Vision HDR and have Night mode.
You will get the same photo and video quality from either phone. There is no telephoto on either.
The only practical difference is holding the phone: the lighter mini is easier to keep steady with one hand, while the bigger iPhone 12 screen makes it easier to check focus and framing before you tap the shutter.
Battery and charging
This is the deciding point. The iPhone 12 has a 2815 mAh battery; the 12 mini has 2227 mAh. Heavy users often find the mini needs a top-up by evening, especially with mobile data on.

Software and updates
Both launched with iOS 14 and get exactly the same updates, since they share the same chip. Both still run current iOS in 2026, but they are among the oldest supported iPhones, so major updates will end sooner than on newer models. Neither supports Apple Intelligence.
