The Nova 12i is aimed at students and first-time smartphone buyers who want a high-resolution camera and fast charging without a big budget. It is the entry model of the Huawei Nova series (Huawei Nova phones) for 2024 and replaces the Nova 11i (Huawei Nova 11i).
The 6.7-inch IPS LCD has Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, so text is sharp and scrolling is smooth. The design is slim at 8.4 mm with a large circular camera island. The Snapdragon 680 is a 6 nm 4G chip; with 8GB RAM it runs WhatsApp, TikTok, YouTube and light games comfortably, but it is not built for heavy gaming at high settings.
The 108MP main sensor captures detailed daylight shots that you can crop, and a 2MP depth lens helps portrait mode. Night photos are average, and video tops out at 1080p. The 8MP front camera is fine for video calls. The 5000mAh battery gives a full day, and 40W charging is fast for this class.
The Nova 12i runs EMUI 14 without Google Play Services, so apps come from Huawei AppGallery. Banking and Google apps may need alternatives, so check your important apps first. It does include NFC, which is rare at this level. Our unit is the PTA Patch Approved international variant, box packed. This phone is PTA Patch Approved, so a local SIM works.
