Read full overview
The itel P40 is for people whose biggest need is battery life: riders, field workers, travellers and anyone who often cannot reach a charger. It belongs to itel's P Series (itel prices), the brand's line of big-battery 'Power' phones.
The 6.6-inch IPS LCD has HD+ resolution, which is fine for calls, WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube. Inside is the Unisoc SC9863A octa-core chip with 4GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage, plus a microSD slot. Android 12 Go edition uses lighter apps to keep the phone usable. This is a basic performer. It handles one app at a time well, but heavy games and lots of multitasking will be slow.
The 13MP rear camera with an auxiliary lens and LED flash takes simple daylight photos and records 1080p video. The 5MP front camera covers video calls. The 6000mAh battery is the main reason to buy this phone. Light users can often go two days between charges, and it is useful during long load-shedding hours. You also get a rear fingerprint sensor and a 3.5 mm headphone jack for wired earphones.
Our unit is the PTA Patch Approved international variant, box packed. This phone is PTA Patch Approved, so a local SIM works.
