The HMD Pulse is aimed at buyers who want a dependable, no-nonsense phone with clean software. HMD designed it to be easy to repair: the battery, screen and charging port can be replaced with basic tools using official repair guides, so the phone can last longer than typical budget handsets. It also gets two Android version upgrades and three years of quarterly security updates.
The 6.56-inch HD+ LCD runs at 90Hz with up to 600 nits in boost mode, which is fine for YouTube and social media. The Unisoc T606 is a 12 nm octa-core chip that handles calls, WhatsApp, browsing and light games. Expect slowdowns if you keep many heavy apps open on the 4GB RAM model. Storage can be expanded with a microSD card up to 256GB, so the 64GB version is still usable if you store photos on a card.
The rear 13MP camera with LED flash is suited for daylight shots and documents, and the 8MP front camera handles video calls. The 5000mAh battery lasts well over a day for light users, but the 10W charging is slow, so a full charge takes a couple of hours. Unusually for this class you get NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack and IP52 splash protection. For a better camera, see the HMD Pulse Plus (/nokia/hmd-pulse-plus/) or HMD Pulse Pro (HMD Pulse Pro). All models are on our Nokia and HMD mobiles (Nokia / HMD prices) page.
Our HMD Pulse is a Non Custom box pack unit of the international variant. This phone is PTA Patch Approved, so a local SIM works. Wi-Fi, apps and every other feature work normally. Read more in our guide on what a PTA Patch Approved mobile is (How to Check PTA Status of Any Mobile Phone).
